Background
Effective monitoring of HIV prevention outcomes is critical to ensuring programs reach high-risk populations with person-centred, evidence-based interventions. Building on the 2023 SSLN Pan Prevention Workshop, a regional workshop held in Botswana in September 2024 brought together representatives from 21 countries to explore innovative approaches to HIV programme outcome monitoring. This follow-up webinar has been convened to share key insights and tools from that workshop with a global audience.
Objectives
- Provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of HIV prevention monitoring, featuring tools and strategic insights from leading global health institutions.
- Introduce the HIV Data Decision Maker (DDM), developed by SSLN-i2i, as an innovative tool to enhance data-driven decision-making in HIV prevention.
- Promote knowledge exchange among national teams, technical experts, and partners to foster collaborative approaches to HIV monitoring.
- Encourage improved data utilisation for enhanced programmatic outcomes and accountability in HIV prevention.
Proceedings
Gabriel Undelikwo (UNAIDS Nigeria) opened the session, followed by expert presentations from Shona Dalal (WHO), Annette Gerritsen (Global Fund), and Clemens Benedikt (UNAIDS) on HIV prevention monitoring gaps and tools. Tamika Fellows (SSLN-i2i) introduced the HIV Data Decision Maker (DDM) to support data-driven programming. An interactive Q&A enabled participant engagement, and Thomas Ofem (SSLN) closed by emphasising continued collaboration.
